Smart enterprise suite (ses)

It is obvious that an organisation cannot survive without documents, information or knowledge.

Unstructured information and knowledge make up about 80% of the total information and knowledge in an organisation. Today, we are still in the fall of an era in which companies invested in solutions like ERP. However, these solutions only deal with the 20% structured data in an organisation.

Every organisation can benefit from solutions that deliver a smart enterprise-wide solution for the untouched 80% unstructured information and knowledge.

ICMS Group believes — and has believed right from the start in 1999 — that just like ERP delivers one platform for administration-related topics, we deliver one platform for information and knowledge-related topics.

In the last quarter of 2003, Gartner confirmed ICMS Group’s approach with SES (Smart Enterprise Suite; document management + content management + portals + collaboration) as a next step in the evolution of information management.

During the European Gartner IT symposium in November 2003, emphasis was put on "Driving workplace productivity — towards the Smart Enterprise Suite". A few statements from Gartner:

  • By 2005, a majority of Global 2000 companies will have initiatives on workplace productivity.
  • Integrated document management, content management, portals and collaboration are converging in the smart enterprise suite.
  • SES will replace document management, content management, portals and collaboration.
  • SES will improve workplace productivity.
  • A significant driver of SES is the promise of reduced integration costs between functional elements that many users want to use together.
  • An SES solution combines:
    • a sufficient range of functionality
    • aggressive price points
    • a coherent offer for individual, team and enterprise processes
    • integration across suite — for users and administration
    • services and support.

SES is a good definition of TINK Platform.

Gartner also states that:
"High-end DMS and CMS vendors have failed to offer lower levels of functionality and cost to wider audiences. For small to midsize enterprises, there are no strong, viable solutions that provide the ease of use/deployment and low cost of niche solutions combined with the robust functionality of a leader."
